✨ Why Do a Move-Out Inspection?

Your Move-Out Inspection is important for both you and your property manager to confirm that you left your rental in a good condition.

A Move-Out Inspection helps you:

  • 💰 Confirm the property’s condition and support your security deposit return

  • 🧾 Provide a clear, visual record for your property manager

  • 🏡 Leave your rental confidently, knowing everything’s documented

Think of it as your final opportunity to show how well you’ve cared for your home — and to make the move-out process smoother for everyone.

Learn more about moving out the right way here.

🪄 When to Use It

Complete your Move-Out Inspection after you’ve removed your belongings and completed your cleaning — ideally, the final thing you do before returning your keys.

If your property manager sends you an inspection link, open it in the RentCheck app to get started right away.

🛠️ How to Create a Move-Out Inspection and Get Started

1️⃣ Open the RentCheck App

Tap “+” to add a new inspection.

If your property manager has requested that you use RentCheck, wait for them to assign the inspection (or start the one you already see).

2️⃣ Select your rental, then choose Move-Out Inspection.

3️⃣ Take your time: Go room by room, capturing clear, well-lit photos and adding notes about any cleaning or maintenance you completed.

  • Be sure to include both wide and close-up shots for context.

4️⃣ Submit and Save

When finished, tap Submit Inspection. Your report will be timestamped and safely stored in your RentCheck account.

💡 Pro Tip: Share your Move-Out report directly with your property manager — it helps close out your lease faster and avoids confusion later.

📸 Why It’s Worth Taking Your Time

A thorough Move-Out Inspection shows care and attention — and ensures your move-out goes smoothly. Documenting everything helps everyone see the full picture.

Take photos of:

  • Walls, doors, and flooring

  • Appliances, fixtures, and plumbing

  • Any wear, marks, or repairs completed

💡 Pro Tip: Compare your Move-Out Inspection to your Move-In photos to ensure accuracy and fairness.

🧾 Why RentCheck Makes It Easier

  • 🕒 Timestamped transparency: Every photo is securely dated and stored.

  • 📂 Organized records: Move-In and Move-Out reports are saved in one place.

  • 🔗 Simplified communication: Share reports directly with your property manager to stay aligned.

💬 Your Move-Out Inspection helps keep things clear, fair, and stress-free — for you and your property manager.
