🕒 Timestamp on Every Media

See when every piece of media was taken, right on the image.

Written by Rishi Jain

RentCheck now shows the date and time stamp on inspection media, showing when each photo, video, and 360 image was captured. You can turn it on for your inspection reports, and you’ll see it when viewing media on the web and in comparison reports automatically. When a deposit dispute or owner question comes up, the proof of when is right there on the image.

Turn on timestamps for your reports

Go to Inspection Report Settings and, under Media, switch on Timestamp. This setting controls your inspection reports only. The image viewer and comparison reports always show timestamps.

Where you'll see timestamps

In inspection reports

With Timestamp on, all media in your inspection report PDFs show the date and time it was captured, for example Jan 2, 2026, 3:45 PM UTC. Times are in UTC, so every report reads the same wherever it's opened.

In the web app

Open any media in the RentCheck web app to see when it was captured, in your own time zone. It’s on automatically, and anyone who opens media from a report link sees it too.

In comparison reports

Every comparison report you export now shows the capture time on all media, for both inspections side by side. Like inspection reports, these times are in UTC.

Why time stamps matter

  • Court claims: Give the court dated proof of the property’s condition, straight from your inspection or comparison reports.

  • Deposit disputes: Show exactly when move-in and move-out conditions were recorded.

  • Insurance claims: Back up damage claims with dated evidence.

  • Owner updates: Prove when an issue was found and when the repair was done.

  • Self-guided inspections: Confirm residents completed their inspection when they said they did.
