To make edits to a RentCheck standard inspection template, select the 3-dot menu at the right side of the header.

Next, select to “Copy Template” option.

A window will open and you will be prompted to enter the initial template details.

From the Create Inspection Template screen, you will enter:

External Inspection Template Name

  • This is a descriptive name for your template that will be visible to residents and others you invite to complete inspections.

Internal Inspection Template Name

  • This is a label for your template that will be visible only to you and your team members. It will be shown alongside the external inspection name when creating and viewing inspections within the RentCheck desktop version only). For example, if you have two templates that are similar in scope that will have the same external name for residents, you can set the value of this field in a way that will differentiate them for your internal team as they create, review, and report on inspections in RentCheck. Again, it will not be visible to residents or other external recipients performing and completing RentCheck inspections.

Inspection Template Description

  • This is a description for the template that will help team members understand when and how the template should be used. The internal template description will be displayed when creating an inspection and selecting the correct template to use for the inspection.

Inspection Template Type

  • This is the type of property for which the template will be used to create inspections. Property types include: Unit, Building, and Community. When copying an existing template, such as in this example, this field will be preset to the value of the original template and will be uneditable. However, this field will need to be set when creating a template from scratch.

    • If it’s a unit template you will need to specify whether the inspection template should cover all rooms and areas of a unit, or only specific features.

      • All rooms and areas of a unit: This means that inspections generated from this template will automatically include all rooms and areas configured on a unit. An example would be a move-in / move-out inspection or a periodic routine check.

        • Enable fast track option: Selecting this option means that users creating an inspection from this template will be given the option to create a fast track inspection. Designed to be completed in 10 minutes or less, fast track inspections ask for photos of rooms as a whole and do not contain individual features or questions.

      • Specific features: This means that Inspections generated from this template will include specific features to be documented. Specific features are selected during inspection creation and are set by default as dictated by the template. An example would be an air filter or exterior landscaping check.

Inspection Template Access

Here you will specify which team or teams should have access to the template. If a team has access to a template, then its members will see the template and be able to select it when creating inspections in RentCheck. Team members who do not have access will not be able to create inspections from the template.

When you’ve finished entering template details select the ‘Create’ button

You will be redirected to the Inspection Template Details page where you can finish setting up your template.
