RentCheck App Troubleshooting Guide

General troubleshooting steps to fix common issues with the RentCheck app, including connectivity, login, and performance problems.

Written by Tanajah Lea

If you’re experiencing issues with the RentCheck mobile app, try the steps below. These general troubleshooting steps can resolve most common issues on both iOS and Android devices.

1. Log Out and Back In

Refreshing your login session can often resolve syncing or loading issues. This step can also help address submission-specific issues in the app.

  • Open RentCheck → Select Log Out.

  • Then log back in with your credentials.

2. Close and Reopen the App

For iPhone users, swipe up from the bottom (or double-tap the Home button if applicable) to find RentCheck in the list of open apps. Swipe it away to completely close the app before reopening. This process refreshes the app session and can often resolve minor glitches.

Fully close the RentCheck app, then reopen it.

  • On most devices, swipe up from the bottom and remove the app from recent apps.

  • Then reopen RentCheck to see if the issue persists.

3. Check Your Internet Connection

Make sure you’re connected to a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data). Keep the RentCheck app open and active during uploads, as backgrounding the app may pause the process. Switching networks may help if the connection is weak.

  • Try opening another app or website to confirm you’re online.

  • If using Wi-Fi, toggle it off and back on.

  • If using mobile data, make sure data is enabled for RentCheck in your phone’s settings.

4. Check for App Updates

Make sure you’re using the latest version of the app. Updates often include fixes for submission-related issues, ensuring smoother functionality.

  • General Steps to Update the RentCheck App:

    1. Open the App Store on your device.

    2. Search for "RentCheck" in the search bar.

    3. Locate the RentCheck app in the search results.

    4. If an update is available, tap Update. If the app is not installed, tap Get to download it.

    5. If you don’t see an Update button, the app is already on the latest version.

    6. Once updated or installed, open the app and log in as usual.

  • Device-Specific Instructions:

    • Updating on an iPad:

      1. Open the App Store on your iPad.

      2. Tap the Search tab at the bottom of the screen.

      3. Type "RentCheck" into the search bar.

      4. Find the RentCheck app in the results.

      5. Tap Update if it’s already installed, or Get to download it.

      6. If you don’t see an Update button, the app is already on the latest version.

      7. Once updated or installed, open the app and log in as usual.

    • Updating on an iPhone:

      1. Open the App Store on your iPhone.

      2. Tap your profile icon at the top right of the screen.

      3. Scroll down to find the RentCheck app in the list of available updates.

      4. Tap Update next to the RentCheck app.

      5. If you don’t see an Update button, the app is already on the latest version.

      6. Once updated, open the app and log in as usual.

Keeping your app updated ensures you have the latest fixes and improvements.

5. Restart Your Device

Additionally, restarting your device can resolve issues related to using the camera or recording functionalities during inspections in the RentCheck app.

A simple restart can often fix temporary system or connection issues.

  • Power off your device completely.

  • Wait 10–15 seconds, then turn it back on.

6. Check for System Updates

Make sure your device software is up to date.

  • iOS: Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

  • Android: Go to Settings > System > System Update.

If an update is available, install it, then try reopening RentCheck.

7. Clear App Cache and Data (Android only)

If the app is crashing or not loading properly:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > RentCheck > Storage.

  • Tap Clear Cache, then Clear Data (if needed).
(Note: Clearing data may sign you out of the app.)

If storage errors persist, ensure there is enough space on your device. Consider deleting unused files or apps to free up storage. Insufficient storage can also impact the overall functionality of the app, not just cause storage errors.

⚠️ Important: Do Not Delete the App Unless Instructed

Please do not delete the RentCheck app as a troubleshooting step unless you are specifically instructed to do so by a member of the RentCheck Support Team.

Deleting the app can result in data loss, including inspection progress that has not fully synced. In most cases, deleting the app will not resolve common issues and may create additional problems.

If you believe reinstalling the app may be necessary, contact Support first so we can confirm the safest next steps.

8. Check Permissions

RentCheck needs certain permissions to function properly (like access to your camera or location).

  • iOS: Go to Settings > RentCheck and ensure all relevant permissions are enabled.
Android: Go to Settings > Apps > RentCheck > Permissions and enable the required permissions.

9. Contact Support

If you’ve tried all the steps above and still experience issues, our Support Team can assist you.

Please include:

  • Your device type (iPhone/Android and version)

  • A brief description of the issue

  • Screenshots if applicable
