Overview

In RentCheck, residents can complete inspections as long as the inspection remains open and assigned to them. If a resident has an old or overdue inspection that has not been submitted, they may still be able to complete it in the mobile app.

Why Residents Can Still Complete Old Inspections

Residents can complete an inspection if:

  • The inspection is still open

  • The inspection is assigned to the resident

  • The inspection has not been closed by the property management team

Even if an inspection is past its due date, residents may still see and complete it unless they submit the inspection or the property manager takes action in RentCheck.

How to Stop a Resident From Completing an Old Inspection

To prevent a resident from completing an outdated or overdue inspection, you will need to close the inspection from your dashboard.

Mark the Inspection as Complete

If the inspection is no longer needed or was reopened by mistake, marking it as complete will immediately prevent the resident from submitting it.

  1. Open the inspection in RentCheck

  2. Click Manage

  3. Select Mark as Complete

Once marked as complete, the resident will no longer be able to submit that inspection.

Important Notes About Completed Inspections

  • Residents will always be able to view completed or approved inspections.

  • Marking an inspection as complete prevents submission, not visibility.

  • Deleting an inspection does not always remove it from a resident’s app if it was previously assigned.

Best Practice

If an inspection is no longer valid or should not be completed, we recommend closing it as soon as possible by marking it as complete. This helps prevent residents from submitting outdated inspections and keeps your inspection records accurate.
