Background Uploads and the New Upload Hub

Submit, put your phone away, and track every upload in one place.

Written by Rishi Jain

RentCheck now uploads your inspections in the background! No more waiting around for uploads to finish. Track every upload from your lock screen or the new Upload Hub, and spend that time getting to your next unit.

Submit and keep moving

Once you sign and submit, you're free to go. Close the upload screen, lock your phone, switch apps, or start your next inspection. Your upload keeps running until it's done.

Why it helps: you can get through more inspections in a day without waiting on each upload, especially big ones with lots of photos.

Closed the app? We’ll pick it back up

If the app closes or your phone restarts mid-upload, RentCheck picks things back up the next time you open it.

  • Signed inspections always resume uploading automatically.

  • Inspections you’re still working on resume uploading too, as long as you’ve made changes in the past 7 days. Anything older won’t restart on its own, but you can open the inspection to continue.

Track everything in the Upload Hub

The Upload Hub shows all your inspection uploads in real time. To open it, tap the upload icon at the top of your Inspection List or inside any inspection. It slides up over whatever you're working on, so you can check your uploads and pick right back up where you were.

The Hub is split into three sections:

  1. Pending: your photos and details are saved, but the inspection still needs something from you before it can be submitted.

    1. Incomplete: some rooms/areas still need to be filled in. Tap Finish Inspection to jump back in.

    2. Signature Required: everything's completed and saved, but it just needs your signature. Tap Complete Inspection to sign and submit.

  2. Uploading: signed inspections that are still being uploaded or waiting their turn in the queue.

    1. Uploading: being uploaded right now.

    2. Queued: waiting for its turn to upload in the queue.

    3. Failed: some items couldn't upload, but the rest of your inspection was successfully uploaded. Tap Retry to try uploading them again, or View Errors to see which ones had trouble.

  3. Completed: inspections that uploaded and submitted successfully. They stay here for 7 days, or you can clear them anytime.

When something doesn't upload

If any items run into trouble, you’ll see an error count on that inspection’s card, even while the rest keeps uploading.

  • Tap Retry to send those items again. They go to the front of the line.

  • Tap View Errors to see which items had trouble, so you can troubleshoot or reach out to our support team.

Why it helps: no more opening inspections one by one to check what went through. See what’s uploading, what’s waiting, and what needs you, all in one spot.

See progress without opening the app

Once you sign and submit, your upload's progress shows on your lock screen and in your device’s notifications drawer, so you'll know when it's done or if something needs a look. On iPhone, you'll also see it in the Dynamic Island. Tap any of these to open the Upload Hub.

Need to sign? If an inspection is saved but still needs your signature, we'll send you a quick reminder. Tap Review & Sign to finish it.

Spotty signal is fine

If you lose connection, your uploads pause and pick up right where they left off once you're back online. If the app closes or your phone restarts, they resume the next time you open RentCheck, and nothing already uploaded gets sent twice.

Just set up the inspection before you lose service. Create and open the inspection while you’re still online, so it’s ready on your phone when you get to a spot with no signal.
