Getting Started – 360 Camera Setup and Usage

  1. Ensure You’re on a Professional Plan: 360 camera functionality is only available to users with a Professional Plan. You can upgrade through your Billing Page if needed.

  2. Fast-Track Inspection Required: Make sure your inspection is set as fast-track, as 360 cameras aren’t supported for standard inspections.

  3. Connect to the Camera's Wi-Fi: Use your mobile device to connect to the camera’s Wi-Fi. The Ricoh Theta password is on the camera or in the network name. No need to download the Ricoh app; all functions are accessible via the RentCheck app.

  4. Select 360 Photo Mode: During the inspection, choose the “360 Photo” option under Media Formats.

  5. Capture the Image: Place the camera on a tripod in the center of the room, step out of the way, and capture the image with a single tap. Repeat for each room.

  6. File Upload: For desktop uploads, ensure the image has a “-image-360.jpg” extension.

360 Images in Inspection Reports

360 photos are seamlessly integrated into RentCheck reports, allowing users to click thumbnails for a full 360° view through any browser. Reports can be shared as PDFs or HTML links with residents or property owners. Check out our updated maintenance reporting here!

Using the 360 Viewer

The 360 Viewer allows users to explore different angles of a room by clicking and dragging. It works on both desktop and mobile devices, offering detailed property documentation.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Charge: Ensure your camera is fully charged; consider a portable battery pack for multiple inspections.

  • Wi-Fi Connection: Keep a strong connection between your device and the camera.

  • Camera Settings: Make sure the camera is in camera mode, not video mode.

  • Work vs. Personal Phones: Antivirus software on work phones may block image processing.

  • Uninstall/Reinstall: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the RentCheck app. Ensure all inspections are uploaded first to avoid data loss.

  • Clear Cache: Clearing the app cache or data may fix issues, but be aware this could log you out or reset settings.

  • Safe Mode: Booting your device into Safe Mode may help identify conflicts with other apps.

If Your Camera's Wi-Fi isn't appearing:

  • Be Patient: It might take a few moments for the camera's Wi-Fi to appear.

  • Exclusive Connection: Ensure only one device is trying to connect to the camera.

  • Toggle Wi-Fi: Turn your device's Wi-Fi on and off and try again.

  • Forget and Retry: If issues persist, forget the network and reconnect.

Upload Speed Tips:

Upload times for 360 images vary by camera. For faster uploads, wait for a strong Wi-Fi signal and disconnect from the camera’s network after capturing all images.
