What is a RentCheck Move-in Inspection?

RentCheck move-in inspections are designed to document the condition of a unit at the time a resident moves in. Its purpose is to establish a baseline for the unit's condition at the beginning of a lease. Move-in inspections should be performed as soon as possible after a resident moves in and before they have unpacked and moved in their furniture and belongings. Move-in inspections are detailed, thorough, and easy to perform.

With RentCheck move-in inspections, property managers and landlords can:

  • Get on the same page as residents at the start of a lease with an accurate and standardized report that documents the condition of a unit at move-in.

  • Share completed reports with residents and other relevant parties for review and digital sign-off.

  • Compare a unit's condition from move-in to move-out to easily calculate damages and minimize disputes with increased transparency.

How long does a RentCheck Move-in inspection take?

RentCheck move-in inspections typically take about 30-60 minutes to complete depending on the size of the unit. We also offer a fast-track option designed specifically for property management professionals that takes about 10 minutes to complete on average.

What's included in a Move-in inspection checklist?

RentCheck's standard move-in inspection includes the steps and questions outlined below for all relevant rooms and exterior areas.
